A Teacher's Heart: Teachers Helping Teachers
The Texas coast has experienced a catastrophic Hurricane Harvey that has greatly impacted its
citizens, businesses, and especially its schools and students.  Action Based Learning has been working with Houston area schools for many years. Houston area schools who have implemented Action Based Learning formed the Kinesthetic Classroom Collaborative. Over 125 ABL teachers and administrators representing many school districts meet multiple times a year at area schools to share ideas, lessons and activities used in their Action Based Learning Labs and classrooms. Each and every one of these teachers and students have been negatively affected by Harvey. And each one of these schools need help! Our hearts hurt, but those with a Teacher’s Heart hurt even more. We want to directly help our schools, and that's where A Teacher's Heart  began!

For those who would like to help, but are unable to sponsor a classroom, we have set up A Teacher's Heart GoFundme page

100% of funds raised will go, initially, to schools who are in the most dire need. Remaining funds will be distributed to those teachers who have signed up for help for their students in need via A Teacher's Heart program. Please share this with family and friends who want to help out our teachers in need! 

 

SPONSOR 

 You can sign up to sponsor a classroom of a Houston area teacher who teaches the same grade level or has the same position as you do.

As a sponsor, you support that teacher and his/her classroom throughout this school year, by something as simple as starting a pen pal program where your students write letters of encouragement to your sponsored students during the year. The options are endless, but here are some more ways you can help: Share extra school supplies, books, materials, bulletin boards, posters, equipment. Start a fundraiser or service project to provide gift cards to the teacher to buy supplies for his/her classroom. Share ABL lesson plans, ideas, and activities to lessen the burden of the teacher’s time. Recruit friends, families and colleagues to donate to your sponsored classroom. If you choose, your entire school could sponsor an entire Houston area school for the school year!
