I feel like I am in a Jail Cell

Teachers and  friends,

As we get ready to start another school year really look at those faces and bodies that "sit" in front of us. Those desk are really just a jail cell for a child. We hold them in "educational incarceration" for hours a day.

That really is not in their job description. They want to move. So let them. If that seems counter intuitive to what we were taught in Classroom Management 101 than do a little research on Movement in the Classroom. There is a whole lot of science behind what is now being considered to be the new "movement" in education.

Dr.John Medina, author of Brain Rules:
" If you wanted to create an education environment that was opposed directly to what the brain is good at doing, you probably would design something like a classroom."

Take a look at either of those books and then look again at those faces and bodies in your classroom. It could be a " moving experience" that will change your approach to this educational year.
